Dr. Kapil G. Kapoor joined YPO in 2022. He is a physician, research institute founder, private practice partner, board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgery specialist who treats patients for macular disease and diabetic retinopathy in Virginia and North Carolina, USA. He serves as the president of the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and is affiliated with numerous academic organizations such as Eastern Virginia Medical School Department of Ophthalmology, Excellence, ASC, and Independent Health Alliance.
Recognized among Coastal Virginia Top Docs in 2020, 2021, and 2022 and Castle Connolly Regional Top Doctor, dating back to 2018, he co-founded Wagner Kapoor Research Institute. As clinical researchers and eye care specialists disheartened by systemic health inequities, Kapoor and his partner recruited a culturally aligned team that could relate to reluctant community members.
Dr. Kapoor attended Ohio State University and completed his residency as Co-Chief Resident at the University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston in addition to undergoing further training with a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
